Mrs. Bhadrani Jayawardena, Colombo Municipal Commissioner, says it has been agreed to suspend parking fees at 19 places within the Colombo Municipal Council till further notice.
She claimed that this decision was made in response to allegations that numerous people were unlawfully charging tolls from vehicles parked in these areas.
She further added that this decision will be implemented until the results of an investigation into the issue.
Parking fees have been suspended on Galle Road Duplication Road and all roads in the vicinity of Wellawatta City, Malay Street, Javatta Road, Dematagoda Supermarket, Laundry Watta, Navam Mawatha, D.N. Fonseka Mawatha, Bastian Mawatha, Muttiah Road, Andiwal Mawatha, Magazine Road, Temple Road near Ananda Vidyalaya,
