The Department of Meteorology has issued a red warning for extreme rainfall.
Accordingly, the department reports that the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces as well as the districts of Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara may receive more than 150 millimeters of rainfall.
The Department of Meteorology requests that residents of low-lying areas near rivers and areas prone to landslides be vigilant in this regard.
