The Department of Meteorology has predicted isolated rain and thundershowers for the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western, and Northern provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts.
There is a chance of extremely heavy rains of more than 100 mm in some areas in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Galle district, and there is a chance of rather heavy rains of more than 75 mm in some areas in the Matara, Puttalam, Mannar, Kilinochchi, and Jaffna districts, according to the announcement.
The bureau has also warned of possible evening and night rain and thunder for the rest of the island.
