Cabinet spokesperson Bandula Gunawardena says that the prices of many essential goods in the market have dropped significantly.

He stated this in response to a question raised by a journalist at the cabinet press conference held today (Oct. 18).

He said that in yesterday’s Cabinet meeting, essential food items were discussed, and the Minister of Trade said that the prices of many essential items in the market have decreased.

Accordingly, the price of a kilo of lentils has dropped from Rs.685 to Rs.308, the price of a kilo of Nadu rice has dropped from Rs.220 to Rs.165, the price of a kilo of white brown rice has dropped from Rs.210 to Rs.160, the price of a kilo of sugar has dropped from Rs.376 to Rs.275, and the price of a kilo of wheat flour has dropped from 395 rupees to 275 rupees.
